The flag of Idaho is a classic emblem of frontier identity and natural wealth, its design rooted in early 20th-century state pride. Adopted in 1907, it features the state seal centered on a dark blue field with the words “State of Idaho” in gold below. The seal is a busy tableau of the state’s landscape and economy: a miner and a woman personifying liberty and justice flank symbols of agriculture, mining, and forestry, while mountains and rivers stretch into the distance beneath a bright sun. The elk’s head at the top reflects Idaho’s wilderness and abundant wildlife. Gold, blue, and green tones dominate, symbolizing mineral wealth, loyalty, and fertile land.
