History
Yukon
The flag of Yukon, adopted in 1968, is a vivid and balanced design that celebrates both its geography and its history. It consists of three vertical panels: green, white, and blue. The green symbolizes the territory’s vast forests, the white represents snow, and the blue evokes its countless rivers and lakes. Centered on the white panel is the Yukon’s coat of arms, featuring a red cross on a blue-and-white wavy field to symbolize the territory’s rivers, with a Malamute dog standing proudly on top—an emblem of endurance and companionship in the North. Beneath the shield blooms a wreath of fireweed, the territorial flower. The flag captures Yukon’s frontier resilience and its harmony with a landscape defined by wilderness, water, and survival.
