Manitoba
The flag of Manitoba, adopted in 1966, carries a distinctly British influence while incorporating local symbolism. It features a red field with the Union Jack in the upper hoist corner and the provincial shield on the fly side. The shield displays a bison standing on a green field above a red cross of St. George on white—a reminder of England’s patron saint and Manitoba’s colonial heritage. The bison, once central to Indigenous life and prairie ecology, represents endurance, survival, and the vast plains that define the province.
