The flag of New Brunswick, adopted in 1965, is a lively and historic design drawn from the provincial coat of arms. Set on a golden field, it features a detailed galley—or ancient ship—sailing on stylized blue and white waves, representing both the province’s maritime heritage and its shipbuilding tradition. Above the ship, a red lion passant on a gold background recalls the arms of the Duchy of Brunswick, honoring the province’s namesake, King George III, who was also Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg.
