Materials FAQ
We use a variety of materials and techniques to help you accomplish your visibility requirements.
We offer a growing selection of symbols like ranks, or medical symbols that can be used in place of a flag. See current options for details.
Not to worry, we go over every order to ensure best fitment before we make your patch.
The Badge option goes one step further by adding an additional contour cut around your graphic. Instead of a standard rectangle, the cutout around your image will match the shape of the image.
Using the Custom Flag option allows you to upload your image to fit in the rectangular space for your flag.
HiVis Flags use our prismatic reflective materials to provide you with a full colour flag. With very minimal light, colours appear clearly, and vibrantly at long distances, much like the reflectors on emergency vehicles, and road signs. This material will also reflect infrared light spectrums, commonly used in aerial imaging systems. This is the best choice to keep you safe where visibility is of the upmost importance.
Laser Cut flags will be cut to match the selected fabric option on your patch, with the negative space showing your selected base material. This allows a uniform colour match on all elements of your custom patch. This is also the best way to maintain an ID Panel that is IR ONLY, as the HiVis flag variants will emit visible reflection.
Fabric patterns are the coloured top layer of the patch, this is what appears as the background around the text. These patterns are made from Genuine Cordura fabrics (when available) and are rugged enough to withstand daily operational use. All patches are placed randomly on large material sheets, and as a result, every single patch will have a unique portion of the selected pattern. We do our best to audit this process, and make sure the selected pattern is represented by at least 2-3 of it’s main colours. Due to the volume of patches we produce on a daily basis, we are not able to accept requests for specific pattern placement.
Our Reflective + Glow in the dark material is designed to shine in two ways: it reflects light like a road sign and also glows on its own in the dark after being exposed to light. It’s waterproof, weatherproof, and doesn’t need batteries, making it ideal for marking gear, paths, or people in low-light or no-light situations.
Our flat materials do not reflect any light of any form, and offer a great look where uniform standards require specific colours to be used, or you just don’t want to add any additional visibility.
Our prismatic reflective materials meet stringent standards required by both land and marine transportation industries.
Our extremely potent glow in the dark material can glow for up to 10 hours on a 10 minute charge in sunlight. This material appears white when not glowing, or in daylight, and appears green when glowing in the dark. This material can be used as your base material, or as a fine line around the text on some patch models.
Pro IR is a must when conspicuity is required. With a matte black finish, the material offers no reflection unless viewed under illuminated Infrared. It will not reflect from light sources like headlights or flashlights
Our basic IR material is a high gloss black under normal daylight, and will reflect both Infrared, and all visible light spectrums (like headlights and flashlights). This material is similar to that used on colour matched graphics on law enforcement vehicles where the graphic does not appear until a light is pointed at it.
Short Answer - Nothing. We've updated the name of Basic IR to Black Reflective to make it's functionality more clear. Just like before, this material will reflect all light, including visible and IR spectrums.
